Jasmin Nessa Ali is a Guyanese fashion designer from Queens, New York. NESSA is her namesake clothing brand driven by an audacious passion for hard work and pride for culture. The two cultural pillars that inform the design language of NESSA are New York City denim streetwear, and Caribbean aesthetics. Since 2022, Jasmin has designed and constructed five capsule collections, two of which have been released for sale in a pre-order or made to order shop structure. In addition, she continues to work on commission to design custom garments for clients across the music and arts industries here in New York.

Jasmin’s previous practice of painting as a young adult is evident in NESSA today, but her focus shifted to fashion because of the alluring competitive nature and seemingly impenetrable barrier of access in the fashion industry. The journey has transformed the mission of NESSA into one that centers collaboration among artists, and a need for unity across the Caribbean. The emerging generation of Caribbean creatives is inspiring. As a collective, a future dripping in authentic dialogue, food, arts, and music, but hand in hand with every race and creed that make up our beautiful Caribbean - is possible. This sentiment continuously drives Jasmin to utilize NESSA as a catalyst for community and change.
